Richard Baker
Governor and Executive Chairman

Richard Baker has been the Company’s Governor since July 2008. Mr. Baker is also the Executive Chairman and was previously the Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Mr. Baker has been the Chairman of Lord & Taylor since July 2006. Mr. Baker owns National Realty & Development Corp. (“NRDC”), one of the largest privately owned real estate development companies, along with his father, Mr. Robert Baker. Mr. Baker is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for ROIC (Retail Opportunity Investment Corp) which is a REIT listed on the NASDAQ Exchange that focuses on acquiring retail properties on the east and west coasts of the United States.

Mr. Baker serves or has served on several councils and advisory boards at Cornell including: the Baker Program in Real Estate Advisory Board, the School of Hotel Administration Advisory Council, the Center for Real Estate and Finance Advisory Board, and the Center for Real Estate and Finance Industry Fellows.


Andrew Blecher
Chief Communications Officer, HBC

Andrew Blecher was appointed Chief Communications Officer in June, 2017. Prior to this role, Blecher served as SVP Corporate Communications and Public Relations, an appointment that coincided with the April 2016 establishment of a new Corporate Communications and Public Relations division, comprising Corporate Communications, Banner Public Relations, Global Communications and Internal Communications for HBC.

Blecher began his career at Saks Fifth Avenue nearly 15 years ago. He left for four years to assume a leadership role at an outside PR agency, where HBC was his lead client.  He was then hired by HBC in 2014, following the acquisition of Saks, as SVP of PR and Events, a role he held from 2014 to 2016.

In his current role, Blecher is responsible for corporate communications for HBC, and brand communications for HBC banners globally, along with responsibility for the HBC Foundations in the U.S. & Canada.

Mr. Blecher holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from American University.


Alison Coville
President, Hudson's Bay and Home Outfitters

Alison Coville is President of Hudson’s Bay, where she oversees merchandising, marketing, (stores, planning and digital), for the banner.  She serves on HBC’s Executive Committee.

Coville has more than 30 years’ experience in the retail industry, spending nearly 20 at HBC.  She began her career with HBC in 1999, as GMM Centre Core - Accessories Jewellery Handbags Footwear for Hudson’s Bay.  She moved to progressively senior roles throughout the company, which included, at various times, oversight within Zellers and Home Outfitters as well.  Coville played an integral role in the 2008 strategic initiative that ultimately saw the reinvention of Hudson’s Bay, contributing to the strategy development and execution to manage through a very volatile market and position the banner for significant growth by 2010.

Previous to this appointment, Coville served as SVP/GMM Women’s Apparel and Specialty for Hudson’s Bay /Lord & Taylor, which included Sportswear, Dresses, Outerwear, The Room (designer), Topshop Top Man, the DSG Fashion Office and all licence businesses for the banners. 

Before joining HBC, Ms. Coville worked at T. Eaton Company, progressing through the organization in multiple functions and executive roles, including buying, store planning. Marketing and national sales management.


Jonathan Greller
President, Saks OFF 5TH and Gilt

Jonathan Greller was appointed President, Gilt and Saks OFF 5TH in January 2014, and is responsible for Saks OFF 5TH, Gilt and Find @ Lord & Taylor. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Greller held the role of SVP, Private Brand Apparel, Global Sourcing and Specialty, Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor. With over 20 years of experience at HBC, Mr. Greller has also served as Senior Vice President, General Merchandise Manager of Ladies Sportswear at Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor, and Senior Vice President, General Merchandise Manager for Men's, Intimate Apparel, Sleepwear, Activewear and Children's at Lord & Taylor.

Mr. Greller has a Bachelor of Science degree in Retailing from Syracuse University, where he also currently serves on the retail advisory board.

 

 


Janis Leigh
Chief Human Resources Officer

Janis Leigh was appointed Chief Human Resources Officer in June 2017. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Leigh held the role of Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Organizational Development, HBC from February 2015 to May 2017.  Leigh has 20 years of Human Resources experience gained in progressive roles at HBC; establishing strong trusted relationships and partnering effectively on the integration of organizational structures, the development of strong leadership teams, and the building of bench strength.

Leigh holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences with a concentration in Political Science from the University of Ottawa.


Dr. Wolfgang Link
Chief Executive Officer, HBC Europe

Dr. Wolfgang Link was appointed CEO of HBC Europe in May 2017.  Prior to joining HBC, Dr. Link served as President of Toys “R” Us Europe, a role he held since 2013, and previously as President, Central Europe, from 2007 to 2013. At Toys ”R” Us he also served as a member of the global executive board, and was responsible for the company’s business operations in nine countries, including Germany, France, Spain the UK and the Netherlands. Before joining Toys “R” Us, Dr. Link served as Managing Director for the MEDIMAX specialist stores and ElectronicPartner Group Holdings, where he was responsible for the operation of more than 200 specialty stores in Germany, Hungary and Turkey. In addition, Dr. Link served many years in a variety of leadership roles at the METRO Cash and Carry Group, in corporate headquarters in Dusseldorf and in the country business units in Austria and Spain.

Dr. Link holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Nuremberg, and a Ph.D. in International Management from the University of Ingolstadt.


Kerry Mader
Executive Vice President, Store Planning and Operations

Mr. Kerry Mader was appointed EVP, Store Planning and Operations in June 2017. Previously, Mader served as Executive Vice President of Store Planning, Construction and Design since June 2013, and, prior to that, as Senior Vice President of HBC Specialty, responsible for Home Outfitters. In his current role, Mader is responsible for Store Planning, Design, Construction, Facilities, Operations & Visual Merchandising.

Mader first joined HBC in 1978 at The Bay in Manitoba. Over the past 39 years, he has held numerous executive positions within HBC including General Manager of Hudson’s Bay Queen Street, including Regional GM for Ontario and, most recently, Senior Vice President of Store Planning, Construction and Design. During his tenure with Store Planning, Mader spearheaded his team through many projects such as the design and implementation of the 2006 HBC Olympic Shops, expansion of Saks and Saks OFF 5TH into Canada, expansion of Hudson's Bay and Saks OFF 5TH into Europe and the Flagship Saks NY store renovation.

A graduate of the UBC Retail Executive Development Program and the Babson College School of Executive Education in Strategic Planning and Management in Retailing, Mader’s accomplishments include a Lifetime Achievement Award from Frontier School Division.


Marc Metrick
President, Saks Fifth Avenue

Marc Metrick was appointed as President, Saks Fifth Avenue in April 2015. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Metrick served as Chief Administrative Officer of Hudson’s Bay Company since September 2013 and as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, HBC from April 2012 to September 2013. Mr. Metrick has over 15 years of experience in the retail industry, including a tenure at Saks where he was the Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. His career in retail has covered buying, merchandise planning, finance and strategy.

Mr. Metrick has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Boston University.


Ian Putnam
Chief Corporate Development Officer

Ian Putnam was appointed Executive Vice President, Chief Corporate Development Officer of the Company in December 2014 and, in June 2017, assumed the added responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer for HBC’s Joint Ventures: HBS Global Properties and the RioCan-HBC Joint Venture. In this role, Putnam is responsible for involvement in all aspects of corporate activity that have strategic significance to the Company and leads the Real Estate Team. 

Putnam has been an advisor to HBC since 2008 and has acted on the Company's behalf in all of its major corporate transactions since that time, including the Company's sale of Zellers leases to Target Corporation, its initial public offering, its acquisition of Saks Incorporated as well as all of its major financing transactions.

Putnam commenced his career at Stikeman Elliott LLP in 1996 where he was most recently a Partner in the firm's Toronto office. Prior to rejoining Stikeman Elliott in 2005, Putnam practiced corporate law for five years at the New York based law firm, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. Putnam's practice has focused on significant corporate finance and mergers and acquisition transactions with a particular focus on the retail, real estate and consumer products sectors.

Putnam holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Queen's University, a Master of Science degree from London School of Economics and Political Science, and a law degree from the University of New Brunswick.


Edward Record
Chief Financial Officer

Edward Record was named Chief Financial Officer of HBC in August, 2017. Prior to this role, he served as J.C. Penney’s (JCP) Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President from March 2014 to July 2017. During his time with JCP, Record helped dramatically improve JCP’s capital structure, reduce its debt leverage and significantly improve its credit rating with multiple upgrades. Prior to joining JCP, Record served as the Chief Operating Officer of Stage Stores from 2010 to 2014, and its CFO from 2007 to 2011. While at Stage Stores, Record oversaw store locations and operations, IT, real estate, e-commerce, logistics, construction, legal and risk management aspects of the business in addition to leading its off price division. Record has also held executive leadership positions at national retailers, including Kohl’s, serving as Senior Vice President of Finance from 2005 to 2007, and Belk, where he was the SVP and Controller for three years. Record began his extensive career in retail at Kaufmann’s, a division of The May Department Store Company, holding various roles across the finance department, ultimately assuming the role of VP of Finance and Controller.

Record holds an AB in Economics from Princeton University and an MSIA in Finance from Carnegie Mellon University.


Elizabeth Rodbell
President, Lord & Taylor

Liz Rodbell is President of Lord & Taylor, where she oversees merchandising, marketing, creative, stores, e-commerce direction, and overall strategy. She serves on Hudson’s Bay Company’s Executive Committee.

Rodbell is a seasoned retail executive with over 30 years of experience. She has held several senior leadership positions at Hudson’s Bay Company and Lord & Taylor, having risen through the ranks of the merchant organization. Prior to her current role, she had been EVP Chief Merchant for Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor, where she oversaw the merchant organization at both banners since 2012, and successfully integrated the senior leadership of the newly combined company.

She joined Lord & Taylor in 1985 as a buyer for dresses. Within two years she was promoted to Divisional Merchandise Manager over the dress category. She was then promoted in 1992 to Senior Vice President General Merchandise Manager of suits, coats, intimate apparel and children’s. As a Senior Vice President General Merchandise Manager she had responsibilities in every business category Lord & Taylor carries over the years until being promoted to EVP of Merchandising, overseeing the women’s merchandise categories.

Rodbell serves on the board of Parsons Board of Governors, Two Ten Footwear Foundation,  the advisory board of Fashion Group International. In May 2015, she was honored by the Mother's Day Council as an Outstanding Mother of the Year.  Also that year she was named one of Crain’s 50 Most Powerful Women.  In 2014, she was presented with the “Way to Win” Award from Win. She has served as a dinner chair for Win, AJC, Parsons and CTF. Rodbell began her retail career at A&S in the executive training program and became a buyer before joining Lord & Taylor. She and her husband, Mitchell, have two daughters.


Janet Schalk
Chief Technology Officer

Janet Schalk was appointed Chief Technology Officer in June, 2017. Previously, Schalk served as Chief Information Officer, a role she held from 2015 to 2017. In her current role Schalk leads the newly created HBC Technology group and is responsible for leading the technology strategy for HBC, with a focus on customer engagement, while continuing to drive the Company’s roadmap of common systems, integrated support, and analytics.

Schalk has more than 12 years of senior leadership experience in the information technology field and is a recognized leader in innovation and emerging technologies, with a strong foundation in customer service.

Prior to joining HBC, Schalk led the technology strategy at Kohl’s Corporation as Executive Vice President and CIO. Previously, she served as Kohl’s Senior Vice President of Business Applications. Before joining Kohl’s, Schalk held various executive positions at Target Corporation, including four years as Executive Vice President of Global IT and Chief Information Officer.

Schalk holds a Master’s degree in business and finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and economics from Northwestern University.


David J. Schwartz
Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

David Schwartz was appointed Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in September 2016.  Prior to joining HBC, Mr. Schwartz served as EVP, General Counsel of Toys "R" Us for over a decade.  Mr. Schwartz has extensive legal and regulatory affairs experience in international retail, spanning real estate, intellectual property, litigation, regulatory compliance and securities.

Mr. Schwartz holds a JD from University of Pennsylvania Law School.  He also holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Duke University.


Gerald Storch
Chief Executive Officer

Gerald (Jerry) Storch was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Hudson’s Bay Company in January 2015. Mr. Storch has had a distinguished 30-year career in retail leadership and management consulting. Prior to joining HBC, Mr. Storch was CEO of Storch Advisors, a retail advisory firm.  Previously, he served as Chairman and CEO of Toys"R"Us, where he oversaw the acquisitions of FAO Schwarz, eToys and KB Toys, expanded into China and Eastern Europe, and grew the company into a U.S.$13 billion global retailer. Before that, Mr. Storch was Vice Chairman of Target Corporation, where, among other accomplishments, he founded and built target.com, and launched their grocery and financial services businesses. Prior to Target Corporation, Mr. Storch was a Principal at McKinsey & Company.

Mr. Storch received a JD from Harvard Law School, a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School, and a BA from Harvard College. Mr. Storch is non-Executive Chairman of the board of directors of Supervalu and a director of both Bristol Myers Squibb and Fanatics.


Todd Zator
Chief Accounting Officer

Todd Zator was appointed as Chief Accounting Officer in March 2014.  Mr. Zator was previously the Senior Vice President, Controller, of Hudson’s Bay Company. Prior to working with the Company, Mr. Zator held senior roles in finance and accounting, and most recently as Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc.

Mr. Zator holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants Canada.
